A while ago, Lakme Launched Its EYECONIC Range of Products which included Kajal and Curling Mascara. I had posted about the launch on the blog HERE - Blogosphere went all crazy with reviews coming up about both of the products... I read some pretty bad reviews.

Anyways, Enough of gaga over makeup talks - Lets get to the review on Lakme Eyeconic Kajal and Curling Mascara. I was pretty excited when the Eyeconic Kit arrived... Was head over heels looking at Kareena Kapoor with those tantalizing jet black rimmed eyes....  I wont bored all of you with the details of the product and bla blaa... Eyeconic Kajal

I love this product to the core !! A sleek black pencil which is same as the Maybelline Colossal Kajal in terms of packaging - is a perfect tool to achieve that diva jet black eyes. The consistency is Bang on !! Its creamy and glides over your lids - No tugging or pulling required !! The color is blackest black !! It lives upto its claim of being waterproof , smudge free once its settled onto your lash line, skin-friendly. I have watery eyes and this product stayed put easily without losing its color intensity for the whole day !! I have read reviews where bloggers say - the kajal removal process takes quite a toll but Honestly !! I didn't face any such problems as long as you use good makeup remover which is capable of removing waterproof makeup.  I totally LOVE this kajal and Would recommend this to everyone !!

Eyeconic Curling Mascara

Now - Just the Jet Black Eyes won't do the trick !! If you want to achieve those hypnotic Eye Look - You got to take your eye makeup a notch up !!  That's where the Eyeconic Curling Mascara comes in !! The Perfect Lipstick

Lipstick is a cosmetic that for years has been used to emphasise the lips and enhance beauty. It is one of the staple cosmetic must-haves for women, but with the increasing number of lipstick shades and brands on the market, it can take many mistakes before you find the perfect lipstick for you.

Consideration for your skin tone is crucial when selecting the right shade of lipstick. Many women are unaware that they need to also pay attention to their skin undertone. You can discover this by looking at the veins on the inside of your wrists in sunlight. If your veins appear to be bluish, then you have a cool undertone; greener veins mean that you have a warm undertone.

Here are some colour options for different types of skin tones and their corresponding undertones:

FAIR SKIN – should wear neutral tones such as apricot, pinks and light corals. It is not advisable for fair skinned individuals to use browns.

§  Cool Undertone - choose nude, light mauve and light mocha.

§  Warm Undertone – choose nude peach, sand and shell colours.

MEDIUM SKIN – women who have medium skin tones can go for darker shades.  Mauves, berries and roses will look great on you.

§  Cool Undertone – you might want to try pomegranate, rosy pink and cranberry.

§  Warm Undertone – bronze, copper and cinnamon are the shades for you.

BLACK or DARK SKIN – lipstick colours such as plum, red and deep brown shades such as chocolate, will be perfectly fine for this type of skin tone.

§  Cool Undertone – you should go for ruby, red and wine.

§  Warm Undertone – try honey, ginger or coppery bronze shades.

Once you have settled upon the perfect lipstick colour for your skin tone, you should get to know the types of lipstick that are available to buy. There are long lasting lipsticks which stain your lips, making them last the whole day; for day time wearing, matte lipsticks can be the best choice as they are not shiny although some have a tendency to dry your lips; sheer/satin lipsticks can be a good choice for daywear too, and have the added advantage of keeping your lips hydrated; and lastly, moisturising lipsticks which can be considered as amongst the best lipsticks to use if you are prone to dry lips. Many lipsticks contain shea butter which will nurture your lips’ moisture, though can wear off easily. 

Once you know your lipstick colour and the type that you are going to use, the application stage is critical to ensure you have a perfectly polished lipstick look. Before applying your lipstick, dab a little foundation on the outer part of your lips to guide you when you are applying. It is best to put on your lipstick straight from the tube as this makes it last longer and gives you a richer colour. In order to ensure that the edges are clean and crisp, use a lip pencil that is the same shade as your lipstick and finally, blot your lips with a tissue to avoid smearing. For a very long lasting look, repeat the application and blotting steps several times.  

 Having the right lipstick look can really bring out your feminine side, make a bold statement and make you look highly polished. Dream Cluster Review : Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation Review

If you belong to our group of Oily Skinned ones - You must be well aware with our obsession of achieving that "PERFECT AIRBRUSHED MATTE LOOK". I am blessed with that same obsession, Hence I was super excited to try out this Matte Mousse Foundation when I received it...

Amongst all the products from Dream Range - The Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation was the first one to be launched in India few years ago. I had till date not tried this product because -  I am always working in the lab where its Hot and Humid and I certainly don't wish to end up looking like a Caked up Doll at the end of the day !!! 

I never sport a foundation on a daily basis - Foundations are always reserved for special occasions (I SHOULD SAY OCCASION !!) - WEDDING !!!! 

Now since I have tons of products lying around - Waiting to be tested - I have moved up a notch and have started wearing foundations on other occasions as well.. 

So, lets see how this product fared on my skin.... 

What is Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation's Mission:

Why the RAVE about Mousse Foundations?
 Mousse Foundations are very specially formulated to better suit the skin. These foundations are easier in terms of application because they blend ever so easily into your skin. They have extra air whipped in them making them lighter and smoother - That is also the reason why they cost more.   

 


First Look at the Packaging:  
This product comes in a glass jar tub like packaging with a screw cap top. Not good for sanitary reasons - I never dip my fingers into this product - Its strictly meant to be gently dabbed with a foundation or a blush brush.

My Experience with the Product: 

I read a lot of negative reviews on this product before I tested it. That's the reason why I never summed up the courage to buy this foundation before. But after using it myself, I stood corrected.

Let me sum up the negatives of the product - The jar packaging makes the product very unhygienic if we dip our fingers every time we use it. Also if you expect a total matte free skin after sporting this product on your face - Stay away !!

The product is strictly meant to be used by a kabuki brush or a blush brush or a duo-fiber foundation brush. I have so far used a kabuki brush to apply this product and it works awesome !!

Its very easy to go overboard with this foundation - If you apply with your fingers - You tend to end up using a whole lot of the product which in turn will make you look like a wax statue !! The moment you apply the product - you will a perfect matte look but after sometime disaster !!

I would recommend just dip you kabuki ever so lightly once or twice ( max thrice !) and dab it all over your face. This way you get a natural perfect matte airbrushed look.

This foundation feels very light on your skin if you have succeeded in applying the right amounts. It doesn't offer heavy coverage and gives a soft natural look to your face.

Beware !! -- If your skin is not properly cleansed or if you have gone overboard with the product - This product will instantly start looking grainy on your skin.

It was successful in keeping my skin oil free for 3 hours which is pretty good. Also I like the consistency of this foundation which is neither a cream or a liquid. It is a light airy mousse which blends easily into your skin.

Once more recommendation - I would recommend you apply this foundation after using a base perfector over your skin. This way the foundation gives you a flawless look. Otherwise, The foundation tend to accentuate your fine lines and pores.

All in all, This foundation is my GO-TO foundation - when you hop out for a quick bite with friends or  a sudden date - where you don't wish to look too made up !!

Love it !! This is perfect for my combination skin tone !! But I am more excited to try out the Liquid version of this foundation as well.

Dream Cluster Reviews: Dream Lumi Touch Concealer

Hello Beauties,

I had received a Dream Range Hamper from Maybelline and its been quite exciting to try out the Dream Range products. Along with Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation, Dream Matte Mousse Foundation, Dream Matte Pressed Powder, Dream Touch Blush and the hamper contained the latest and revolutionary Dream Lumi Touch Concealer.

A good concealer is a must for every girl's vanity. It not only offers a perfect cover up for those nasty acne marks and dark circles but also it helps to create that perfect canvas on your face so that you can proceed to re-create your favorite look. 

So Here is my experience with the lumi concealer -

What it claims:

Let's look at the Packaging :

This concealer comes in a pen format - the same one where you twist the bottom to dispense the product from the tip of the brush. The packaging is similar to Bourjois concealer pen and Lakme Absolute Lip Last. The pen is nice and sturdy, travel friendly and the brush is formatted for an easy application. 

My Experience with the Product: 

I have received the "Ivory" shade which is the lightest from the lot. I guess Nude or Buff shade would have been best match for my skintone.
Anyhow, The Ivory shade is best for highlighting the dark areas of my face and for concealing light imperfections. 
It took me exactly 23 clicks the first time to finally see a hint of the product ooze out of the brush .. which was enough to dab and highlight my whole face. 
The texture of the concealer is the best so far .. it is perfect ..not too runny or creamy. It is easily blended into the skin to give that fresh,glow look.
Attention - People with light dark circles - This is a perfect product to conceal your dark circles and illuminate your eyes. 
This product stays on for hours.. I had applied it in the morning and it stayed put till the evening easily ..For reference - I was dashing in and out of an AC environment thru- out the whole time. 
All in all it is a great concealer for those who those who prefer light and not heavy creamy concealers on their face. 
I would love to check out shades which would match my skin tone to cover my dark circles. Except I am still hunting for these products nearby my place. I can't seem to find them anywhere yet.

Smoky Eyes have been seen on plenty of catwalks lately. Traditionally, the smoky eyes look uses blacks, greys, browns or dark greens, but the colours we have been seeing are bright and bold. Many women are put off doing even the traditional smoky eye look because they fear it's too technical, but actually anyone can do it. Here's a simple five step guide to smokin' eyes..

1. Create a Base

Because the look is quite dramatic, it requires sufficient concealer and base in order to carry it off. For under eye concealer try to find a shade slightly lighter than your own skin. Then apply concealer to your eyelid or alternatively use an eyeshadow primer. Either of these will provide you with an even yet textured base which will hold the eyeshadow.

2. Applying the Kohl

If you find it hard to part with your liquid eyeliner, then this is the bit you'll find tricky. For the smoky eyes look you really need to use kohl (eyeliner pencil) instead as it creates the correct smudged look. Start by using your kohl on the top lid. Start at the inner part and draw all the way along. Don't worry too much about keeping the line straight as it is going to get smudged anyway, just be sure to keep it very close to the lashes and darker towards the lashes too. Do the same along the bottom, but if you are having trouble drawing a line just dot the kohl under and between the lashes. Then get either a blender brush, smudger or cotton bud and smudge the kohl along the upper and lower lines.

3. Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow is an important part of this look and whilst the latest trends have seen bright colours, it's best to stick to the classic darks if you are new to it. Choose a grey, dark green, brown or black but never blue, eyeshadow. Brush the shadow on your eyelid increasing the colour out and up as you go.

4. Emphasise the Browbone

This look is very striking but to make sure it has full effect, apply a light eyeshadow or a small amount of illuminator underneath the brow bone which will balance the look of the dark eyes.

5. Finishing Touches

The rest of your face can be kept fairly neutral. Mascara is important though to carry off the look. Make sure it is applied well to the lower part of the lashes. Keep lips light and neutral, in fact just some lip balm should do the trick. A small amount of blusher will also help give your face structure.

This look is perfect for a night out where you want to make sure you get noticed. It's fine to wear during the day to the office, just keep the lines a bit thinner and then don't build up the eyeshadow quite so much. Once you have done this a couple of times it'll be an easy look you can pull off quickly and simply.
