Makari De Suisse Clarifying Cream

Makari was kind enough to let me try out some of their products and express my opinion about them. Makari De Suisse is a leader in advanced skin whitening products in India and over 50 countries worldwide. I was so curious to see if the product lives upto its claims - so after using it for a while ..Here's my review. .

Product: Makari De Suisse Clarifying Cream
Price: 1600 Rupees
Quantity: 75ml

About Makari De Suisse clarifying cream (hand, foot, elbow):

A formulation specifically made to lighten skin tones at pigmented areas on knuckles, elbows, knees and feet.
As an answer to a very common problem: dryness and discoloration at the hand, feet, knee, and elbow level, we created this clarifying, hydrating, and nourishing cream. This luxurious formula melts into the skin to help clarify and even tone the darker spots of ones body like knuckles, fingers, elbows, and knees. Supreme softening and surface smoothing make this ultra-rich hand and feet balm a best-seller.
Skin Type and Usage Directions:
This product is suitable for all skin types. Use on dark pigmented areas on knuckles, knees, elbows and feet. Apply twice a day while gently massaging into skin.

My experience with the product:
The first thing I noticed when I used this cream for the first time was the consistency of the cream. The cream is rich in texture and is oily a bit.
The cream takes a while to get absorbed into the skin but once its absorbed, it leaves your skin soft and supple.
It doesnt leave your skin oily and greasy which I liked.
The cream has a mild fragrance which is not over- powering.
This cream provides moisturization like no other cream. The rich texture of the cream hydrates your skin all day long.

Not So Good Parts:
The cream has parabens in it.
It is also a bit pricey.
I used this cream on my foot and elbows because the skin has darken due to constant exposure to the sun - I did not see any change in my skin tone.

Love it or chuck it ?
I will give this one a pass. . .

Please note: Product sent by the company's PR for consideration.

Himalaya Lip Balm - Treat for Lips

Today I will be reviewing Himalaya Lip balm. A good lip balm is a “must” for any girl’s vanity. I use a lip balm throughout the year – the difference is the textures of the lip balms which vary with the season. I need a heavy duty lip balm like Nivea in winter bcoz they are absolute saviors from dry chapped lips in winter; although they are greasy and thick in texture they tend to last longer on my lips in winter. Rest of the year, I use nice light textured ones – and this lip balm from Himalaya is just perfect for summers.

PRODUCT - Himalaya Lip Balm
PRICE – 20 Rupees  (dirt cheap !)
QUANTITY - It is available in a tube of 10 gms.

COMPOSITION –  (from the website of Himalaya Herbals)

Lip Balm contains the following ingredients: http://www.himalayahealthcare.com/images/blank.gif
Ricinus communis (Castor, Eranda) oil is used externally to relieve various inflammatory conditions of the skin and mucus membrane.
Cocos nucifera (Coconut, Narikela) oil extract is a good emollient and can be used externally for softening the lips. The oil extract is used in various cosmetics.
Triticum sativum (Common Wheat, Godhuma) oil is a rich natural source of vitamin E, which nourishes and prevents loss of moisture from the skin. It is used to tone and soften the lips. It has a potent antioxidant activity.
Wrightia tinctoria (Sweet Indrajao, Hyamaraka) leaves are used in various skin disorders including herpes. It has astringent and anti-inflammatory activities and is used as an antibacteial in several skin disorders.
Daucus carota (Carrot, Garijara) seed oil is used as a sunscreen and fragrance component in soaps, creams and lotions.

MY TAKE ON THE PRODUCT:

I have been using this balm for a week now and it proudly rests on my dresser table for everyday use.  It comes in a tube like packaging with green screw cap. The slanted tip of the tube makes it convenient for easy application.
I like the transparent gel like consistency of the balm which is light in texture.
I am also a huge fragrance junkie and this balm smells just divine of minty bubblegum like smell.
It does a nice job of nourishing dry and chapped lips.  Since it contains SPF factor.. it makes the lip balm perfect for use in summers too.
The price and the packaging are just a HIT !!  Super cheap and easy to carry around anywhere you go . .
This lip balm however will not work for me in winters when my lips become very dry.
This lip balm also gets over very easily since you need to re-apply it after every few hours.

Love it or chuck it?
Definitely worth a try – perfect for people who don’t suffer from super dry, chapped and cracked lips. It is perfect to use it in summers.

Have you tried this lip balm yet? What do you think ?

Garnier Skin Naturals - Sun Control Daily Moisturizer

Hello everyone!! Today I bring another Garnier product review – this time it is Garnier skin naturals – Sun control daily moisturizer with Mexoryl SX + vitamin E. I don’t remember when I picked this one up but I have this one for quite sometime now.  After almost finishing this product I think it’s about time I review it.

QUANTITY: 50 ml
PRICE: 155 rupees ( hell it was expensive!)

WHAT PRODUCT CLAIMS:
Its special formula blends a moisturizer with selected ingredients:
Formula with Mexoryl SX , a revolutionary patented molecule, to give protection from sun’s UV rays.
Vitamin E to help protect against free radicals and help delay the signs of ageing.
Glycerol and extracts of coriander to retain the skin’s moisture and prevent it from drying while nourishing.

FACTS ABOUT MEXORYL-SX: ( From Wikipedia)
Ecamsule (USAN, trade name Mexoryl SX, INCI terephthalylidene dicamphor sulfonic acid) is an organic compound which is added to many sunscreens to filter out UVA rays. It is a benzylidene camphor derivative, many of which are known for their excellent photostability.
Although there are a few different UV absorbers with the trade name Mexoryl, only two of them are widely used where approved. Mexoryl SX (water soluble) and Mexoryl XL (INCI Drometrizole trisiloxane, oil soluble). Together they show a synergistic effect in protection. The patents are held by L'Oréal. Sunscreens containing ecamsule are exclusive to L'Oréal and its brands.

BENEFITS OF CORIANDER:

Coriander has eleven vital components in the form of essential oils, Vitamin A, Vitamin C along with important minerals like iron and phosphorus. Coriander when mixed with pinch of turmeric powder, it serves as a powerful remedy against blackheads and pimples. The antioxidant and anti-fungal proprieties of coriander are ideal for treating skin dryness, eczema and other skin disorders.

MY- TAKE ON THE PRODUCT:

This cream comes in a small bottle with screw cap top. The cream is light orange in color and faintly smells somewhat like medicated cream. The smell is not overwhelming though – its fine. The consistency of the cream is also ok – not so runny which is good. I hate it when sunscreens precipitate at the mouth of the bottle.

I am scared of using Garnier products on my face so I was extra careful using this product. Most of the times I skipped using this cream for my face and applied it on my arms. Once in a while I did use this cream for my face but I took care that I don’t apply too much of this cream.  I found this cream to be quite OK. It is not that bad and not that good too.  It is good because it didn’t break me out whenever I used it on my face. The thing I didn’t like about it was it is greasy for a while when we apply it, it also takes a while for the cream to get absorbed into the skin. It does prevent tan so that’s a plus point there. Also glycerol prevents my skin from getting dry throughout the day which is also good. Another thing I dislike about this product is that after using this cream for days – the cream kinda gets precipitated at the mouth of the bottle which makes it messy. This cream is good for application on arms and legs – for face I will not recommend it because it makes my face oily after a while.  Also this cream has SPF – 15 only - which I guess will not prove to be too useful in hot humid weathers in Mumbai and other places.

PLUS POINT:
Plus point of introducing coriander extracts in skin care product.

GOOD POINTS:
Protects from UVA +UVB rays.
Dermatogically tested.
Helps prevent skin darkening and premature ageing.
Vitamin E –delays signs of ageing and protect against free radicals.
Glycerol and coriander extract retain skin’s moisture and provides nourishment.
Travel friendly, easy to carry around.

NOT SO GOOD POINTS:
It is expensive for the quantity of product we are getting.
The cream gets precipitated at the mouth of the bottle.
Low SPF factor (SPF 15).
Takes time to get absorbed into the skin.

Love it or chuck it ? :  I will definitely pass this one. I did not like the greasy feel.

Have you used this product yet ? Did you like it ?
